I have always considered myself the "reluctant salesperson" because "conventional" sales practices are just so contrary to what people really want. I cannot count the number of times that the hairs on the back of my neck bristled when so called sales trainers and coaches relayed high pressure, gimmicky, or downright silly sales practices. I often asked myself, "Why can't we just figure out what people really want, and then deliver it to them in a professional manner with incredible service during and after the sale"? Make sense?
Then, a friend and coach told me about Book Yourself Solid, authored by my friend and mentor, Michael Port. WOW! I was blown away! Figure out who I do my best work with, then design my sales process to serve that client and attract others like them. As I read through the book, it almost felt like slipping on my favorite pair of jeans -- comfortable, familiar, just too good. It was too simple. It was too easy. That's the key, however. The Book Yourself Solid way is the way to get clients, and then get more clients, more than you can possibly handle. I applied the Book Yourself Solid principles in my mortgage and equity management practice and my sales took off (even in this economy!) and I am now moving the next level in my life and career. That's why I am now becoming a Certified Book Yourself Solid Coach. My mission is to help birng the Book Yourself Solid concepts to the world and make it a better place.
