Coaching Statement: I work with clients in hearing their own internal dialogues, understanding how they create limiting belief systems, taking responsibility for their lives, increasing their awareness and living in the present. I utilize mindfulness, meditation and the action-oriented principles of Constructive Living. Rather than work with specific and relative goals, I tend to work towards uncovering my client's innate power and abilities such that they can set goals, keep commitments and achieve outcomes by themselves.
My mission statement for my clients:
"You will live an authentic, creative, free life in alignment with your core values. Your work will be fulfilling, your mind will be at peace, you will touch and inspire everyone you meet."
My work is most effective in assisting clients who are "owned" by their feelings. Clients who have formerly been stuck in overwhelm, procrastination, indecision or anxiety are able to act decisively and make clear and purposeful decisions. They learn how to recognize and accept their feelings without being disabled by them. Clients learn how they have created limiting belief systems. They are able to jettison coping skills or habits which may have been appropriate at one time but which no longer serve them. They learn how to let go of the negative internal chatter which may keep them safe and small. My work is particularly effective in changing habits, moving forward swiftly without waiting for confidence or self-esteem to build and enabling clients to let go of the need to control and manipulate outcomes.

My work has an Eastern sensibility which is particularly well-suited to busy Western minds. I am most strongly influenced by my training and experience in the field of Constructive Living and my practice of Zen Buddhism. I am one of only a few hundred fully-trained Constructive Living Instructors worldwide. I am a published author of both fiction and non-fiction, and I work effectively with creative artists and writers experiencing creative block. I am a Certified Constructive Living Instructor, meditation teacher, and I am certified to administer and interpret the Retirement Success Profile, an indicator of readiness to transition to retirement. I also have an entrepreneurial background as well as corporate, large project management experience. I am a member of the International Coach Federation.
“Mary’s approach to working with her clients is a unique blend of both razor sharp analysis of a problem situation and a gentle prodding towards necessary change. Her insights during one session stayed with me during a critical decision making time while I was considering closing my business. She pointed out to me that, although my intentions in keeping my business open were indeed serving the community, they were also causing me to suffer financially, physically and emotionally. I had been in denial about the toll this had taken on me. She offers a holistic approach to possible transformation in business and personal dramas. I was also reminded during each session that I already had all the resources I needed and learned to give and receive daily gifts of opportunity and support. She offers practical step by step guidance within the bigger spiritual purpose of our lives”.
