Tim Athey has worked extensively with executives, managers, and business teams across a wide spectrum of public and private sector organizations. Prior to starting Transitions Consulting, Tim was an Executive Consultant with Personnel Decisions International specializing in executive coaching, leadership development, succession planning, and change management. In addition, he worked for eight years with Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) in California and Colorado. During his work at HP, he provided business consulting and executive development support to HP business operations worldwide. Tim has extensive hands-on experience in working with executives, managers, and teams to improve leadership effectiveness and business results. He has worked with clients including Boeing, CoCreate Software, CH2M Hill, Chips and Technologies, Colorado State University, Eastman-Kodak, Levi-Strauss, Mentor Graphics, National Technological University, Siemens-Nixdorf, and Qwest Communications. Prior to his career with Hewlett-Packard, Tim worked in the field of Community Psychology where he specialized in the treatment of delinquency, substance abuse, crisis intervention, and family conflict.
He specializes in coaching executives, senior managers and teams on strategic alignment, culture change, and individual leadership vision and impact. His fee schedule is $250 per hour within the state of Colorado, and $300 per hour for clients outside Colordado, plus travel and related expenses. He also can provide custom consulting and training on strategic planning, organizational alignment, and succession planning.
Tim is also skilled in the use of a wide range of assessment tools and techniques to help accelerate the learning and change process. Besides extensive experience in executive assessment center and feedback techniques, he is certified in the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, the Team Management Index, the FIRO-B Interpersonal Relations Inventory, the California Psychological Inventory, the Birkman Personality and Career Inventory, The PDI Executive Success Profile, and a wide range of other leadership and career assessment tools. Tim integrates the use of these tools into his coaching and consulting work.
Tim is an Affiliate Faculty in Organizational Psychology at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, a member of the American Psychological Association, and has been a frequent presenter on leadership topics for the National Technological University. He received his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Nebraska, M.S. in Education from the University of Kansas, and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Colorado State University.
